Archbishop Dr. Charles Agyin-Asare, Founder of Perez Chapel International, has expressed strong support for Ghana's National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving, describing it as a significant step in the right direction for the nation.

He said religion played a role in every nation because human beings were composed of spirit, soul, and body, hence when the spiritual dimension is neglected, something vital is inevitably missing.

“Therefore, the President's decision to unite the nation in a collective act of thanksgiving and appreciation to God is a step in the right direction,” he added.

Archbishop Agyin-Asare was speaking during a courtesy paid by the planning committee of the National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving to introduce the committee members, brief him of the laid down activities, formally invite him, and seek his blessings.

The team also visited Rev. Dr. Abraham Nana Opare, Moderator, Presbyterian Church of Ghana.

The National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving is designed to bring together Christians, Muslims and other religious groups together for a common purpose, on the theme: “Reflect, Reset, and Renew for National Prosperity.”

The Christian segment of the programme will be held at the forecourt of the State House from 0800 hours to 1000 hours, followed by Muslim prayers at the National Mosque from 1230 hours to 1400 hours.

The event is scheduled to take place simultaneously in all 16 regions and 266 districts.

Archbishop Agyin-Asare commended the President for designating July 1 as a National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving to God and actively involving religious leaders in this important initiative.

He said it was often said that every society rested on seven foundational pillars such as education, finance, sports, entertainment, and religion, and that if the pillar of religion was removed, the nation risked becoming unbalanced.

Archbishop Agyin-Asare said the scriptures continued to talk about the urgent need for consistent prayer for the nation and the leadership of the nation.

“It is very important we have spiritual leaders upholding or holding the hands of the leadership, and if you go through the scripture, you see that leaders have always worked with spiritual leaders”

“And so, it is strategic, and I believe that even as we as spiritual leaders team up with political leaders to seek the face of God, this nation will find a strategic place that it has to be,” he stressed.

He prayed for the committee that the initiative does not just succeed in Accra, but in all 16 regions and 266 districts, and it becomes a memorial in this nation which could be referred to all the time.

Rev. Dr. Abraham Nana Opare, Moderator, Presbyterian Church of Ghana, said the President's declaration of the day as a National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving was an acknowledgement of what God has done for the nation.

He said generally, there was relative peace in the country compared to the nations that surround Ghana, hence the need to be thankful to God.

“We pray for the President to succeed in his work, and that he will make our nation very prosperous. When the nation becomes prosperous, all of us benefit from it. All of us receive the blessings that come with it”

“And so, we are grateful to God that His Excellency himself has asked you to visit us and to inform us and to invite us, and I would want to assure you that by the grace of God, if the Lord allows us all to see July 1, God willing, we will be there to fully support,” he stressed.
