GJA approves 62 candidates for 2025 national and regional elections

The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) has officially cleared 62 candidates to contest in its upcoming national and regional elections, slated for June 30, 2025.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the GJA Elections Committee, chaired by Mr. Peter Martey Agbeko, confirmed that 13 candidates will vie for national executive positions, while 49 will compete for various roles across the Association's regional branches.

The Committee further announced that the nomination window for the position of Vice Chairperson in the Volta Region remains open. Interested individuals have until 5:00 p.m. on Monday, June 17, 2025, to file their nominations.

The statement emphasised that all vetted and approved candidates will appear on the ballot.

A detailed list of all qualified aspirants for both national and regional contests has been published as part of the announcement.

The upcoming elections are expected to usher in a new cohort of leaders to steer the affairs of the GJA at both national and regional levels.
