The Dormaa East District Assembly, in partnership with traditional authorities (Nananom), schoolchildren, and the Forestry Commission, on Thursday, June 5, 2025, observed the Government’s Tree for Life Restoration Initiative with a tree-planting exercise at the Nseseresu Eco-Tourism Centre.
A total of 700 Royal Palm and Umbrella tree seedlings were planted across the 35-acre site, complementing existing ornamental plants already growing at the location.
The exercise aims to enhance the natural beauty of the area, improve the overall tourist experience, and provide habitat and nourishment for a variety of plant and animal species.
Speaking during the event, Mr. Richard Attepara, team leader from the Forestry Commission, and the Dormaa East District Chief Executive, Hon. Osei Owusu King, highlighted the essential role trees play in sustaining life.
They emphasised the need to preserve the environment and urged participants to be vigilant against environmental degradation activities such as illegal mining (galamsey) and unregulated logging.
They called for collective action to protect Ghana’s natural resources, stressing that tree planting is not only a duty to the present generation but also an investment in the future.
