When races change the truth of history

When races change the truth of history

Nana Otu Akoto posted on the Office of the GA Mantse Facebook website on 08.06.2025 drawings in one picture headlined “How the African Moors brought hygiene to Europe” suggesting before the Moors Europe had no culture and tradition of bathing but used perfumes instead to cover bad smelling body odor. He makes simple readers assume one aspect of European civilization originates from the Moors and, therefore from Africa.

The need and culture of hygiene must be seen in the context of climate and environment, as well as lifestyle. The Romans and the Greeks were leading Europe to take good care of their hygiene by operating public bath houses, public toilets as common places also a means to communicate among each other and do business as toilets were not secluded in cabins as today but several men and women did what they had to do side by side facing each other. In the famous Castle of Versailles, architects did not install enough toilets for all tenants of the Monarch, letting them complain they had to urinate or pupu in the corridors.

In Fortresses and Castles during the medieval period, holes were left open alongside the outer walls for the toilet left behind to fall to the ground or into a ditch below.

During ancient European times while the bathing culture of Europe was already quite advanced the Moors through their enclave in Spain brought their hygiene culture to Europe and added the Hamam to the system of bathing which later became very popular with the Osman's and is seen by many today as a Turkish invention and tradition.

It’s fascinating to observe how certain people want to twist and turn history to match their views of the world and use it for their blame game...fascinating indeed while never standing the test of time!
