The Chief Executive Officer of Barima Matata Farms, Mr. Boadu Menka Peter, popularly known as Matata, has announced plans to implement a 24-hour economy within the company to better support the farming community.
The announcement came during the inauguration of a new branch of Barima Matata Farms Agro in New Konkrompe, a rural community in the Atebubu area.
In his address, Mr. Boadu expressed strong support for the 24-hour economy policy proposed by President John Dramani Mahama and the incoming NDC government. He emphasized the challenges many farmers face—especially those who return late from their farms—who often struggle to find agricultural inputs after regular business hours.
By adopting a round-the-clock service model, Mr. Boadu aims to eliminate this barrier and ensure that essential farm inputs are always available. He noted that this move will significantly benefit farmers across the Bono East Region.
The launch of the new branch on May 30, 2025, marked a major milestone in this effort. The facility is intended to bring agricultural extension services, goods, and products closer to farmers in New Konkrompe and surrounding communities.
The event drew a broad spectrum of stakeholders, including traditional leaders, religious figures, the Municipal Chief Imam, and suppliers of agricultural products. Their attendance underscored the broad-based support the initiative enjoys.
The rollout of a 24-hour economy at Barima Matata Farms is expected to boost productivity, improve access to agricultural services, and enhance the livelihoods of farmers in the region. Mr. Boadu’s commitment to transforming the agricultural landscape is being lauded as a forward-thinking step that promises long-term benefits for local communities.
