The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced a scheduled power outage on Sunday, May 25, 2025, to allow for essential maintenance work by the Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo).
In a notice released on Thursday, May 22, ECG indicated that the planned maintenance will take place at the Kasoa Bulk Supply Point and is aimed at enhancing power supply reliability. The outage is expected to last from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Communities expected to be affected include Kpormotey, Kalabule, Adaakope, Amuzu Kope, Amanfrom, Denchira, Ashalaja, Adam Nana, Nurses Quarters, Kwame Anum, Kuwait, Lamgma, Fulani, Mama Africa, Broadcasting, and nearby areas.
ECG apologized for any inconvenience the outage may cause and emphasized that the maintenance work is critical to improving the efficiency and stability of power distribution in the affected zones.
Customers are encouraged to plan ahead and take the necessary precautions to manage the temporary disruption.

So I find it very interesting that some media platforms have conveniently abandoned the use of the word "blackout" or "power outage" and have described maintenance outage as "dumsor".
