The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has officially announced that the High Court has withdrawn the arrest warrant previously issued against Ghana’s Director of Passports, clearing the official of any alleged wrongdoing related to the issuance of multiple passports to one individual.
In a press release issued today, the Ministry stated that the matter involving Mr. Dominic Williams, the individual alleged to have received multiple Ghanaian passports, has been fully resolved. It also clarified that the incident predates the tenure of the current Director of Passports, who assumed office on August 19, 2024.
According to Ministry records, Mr. Williams first obtained a Ghanaian passport over 12 years ago, with the most recent one issued on January 16, 2024—eight months before the current director took office.
“The Director of Passports has been cleared of any wrongdoing,” the Ministry stated, emphasizing that the arrest warrant has now been formally withdrawn by the court.
The Ministry expressed its gratitude to the judiciary for what it described as the “swift and impartial handling” of the case and reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, accountability, and integrity in the administration of passport services.
As part of ongoing reforms, the Ministry also assured the public that it is working to strengthen internal systems and processes to safeguard the integrity of Ghana’s passport issuance regime.
“The Ministry remains committed to serving the people of Ghana with professionalism and dedication,” the statement concluded.
The release serves as both a reassurance to the public and a signal of the Ministry's resolve to protect the credibility of Ghana’s passport system while restoring confidence in its leadership.
