The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Krachi East, Hon. Safo Nketia, has embarked on a series of impactful initiatives aimed at improving healthcare, infrastructure, and community relations within the municipality.

In a major step forward for healthcare delivery, Hon. Nketia, joined by the Member of Parliament for Krachi East, Hon. Nelson Kofi Djabab, broke ground for the construction of a modern maternity ward at the Asukawkaw Health Centre. The project, supported by the Lordina Foundation, is part of broader efforts to strengthen health infrastructure in underserved communities across Ghana.

The sod-cutting ceremony was well-attended by assembly members, traditional leaders, and local opinion leaders, underscoring strong community backing for the initiative. Once completed, the maternity ward is expected to greatly improve maternal and child health services in the area.

Following the ceremony, the MCE and MP visited the Asukawkaw bridge—an essential route linking Krachi East to southern Ghana. After assessing its deteriorating condition, both leaders assured local chiefs and residents that rehabilitation works would commence soon to ensure the bridge’s safety and reliability.

In a separate engagement, Hon. Safo Nketia, together with representatives from the Ghana Police Service and the municipal assembly, paid a courtesy visit to local chiefs and elders of Asukawkaw to promote peace and cohesion. An ad hoc committee was established to address lingering disputes and foster long-term harmony in the community.

These interventions reflect Hon. Safo Nketia’s commitment to holistic development in Krachi East—prioritizing not only physical infrastructure and healthcare but also peace-building and social stability.

Residents of Krachi East have lauded Hon. Nketia and Hon. Djabab for their collaborative approach to governance and their dedication to advancing the municipality’s development agenda.
