Kumasi: Osei Kyeretwie SHS student arrested for sneaking stepfathers gun to school

The Tafo Pankrono Divisional Police Command has arrested a 16-year-old Form Two boarding student of Osei Kyeretwie Senior High School (OKESS) for unlawful possession of a locally manufactured firearm.

On Tuesday, May 14, 2025, at 9:30 a.m., school authorities discovered the firearm during a routine search of the student dormitory.

He was consequently arrested along with the firearm and handed over to the police for further investigation.

The Ashanti Regional Police Command in a press release signed by Head of Public Affairs DSP Godwin Ahianyo said the suspect claimed that the weapon belonged to his stepfather, Mr. Daniel Owusu Baafi, who was subsequently arrested on Thursday, May 15, 2025.

Both the student and his stepfather have been granted police enquiry bail and are scheduled to report to the police on Monday, May 19, 2025, for further investigations.
