I'm advocating for President John Mahama’s administration to take legal action against the NPP in regard to the government’s policy named “Agyapdie,” a treasonous crime that caused the economy, businesses, and investments of the once-thriving country to collapse. Ghanaians witnessed the most cruel government that took over Ghana and captured the state, taking control of the nation’s resources, the banking sector, and the capital market, and broadening to include a wider range of objectives.
It’s unimaginable that a book that committed treason was printed. Its shocking introduction tells the story of a tribe or family who, in their words, "are nobody's subject, and yet, after Ghana's independence in 1957, we were made to live in the shadows of the descendants of people, while the Ashanti Kingdom was uplifted to put us in the shade, and in more recent times, J.B. Danquah's attempts to restore "Okyema" to its former glory were thwarted, but he fought bravely until the very end.
The narrative also made it apparent that the arrival of Nana is the rebirth of J.B. Danquah. This section clearly shows that Akufo-Addo is the mastermind of the "Agyapadie" policy of the "Akyem Mafia," which led to the destruction of non-NPP businesses, in addition to seizing control of the country's resources, finances, and state properties. Through the former finance minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, the Akyem Mafia embezzled every fund, including that of COVID-19 and the International Monetary Fund.
The nation's judiciary lost its integrity as a result of the court's overwhelming number of NPP judges, who decided cases in favor of the NPP government and encouraged government corruption that led to the collapse of all infrastructure in the country, amid a staggering debt of GHC 763 billion. Crimes that go unpunished have an impact on the public in addition to escalating corruption inside the NPP administration, which is a problem that current Attorney General Dr. Dominic Ayine is addressing.
The "Agyapadie" government did more than just guarantee economic benefits or allow kleptocracy to bolster political authority and having authority over financial institutions and resources. The government seized once-thriving public institutions, labeled them "poor performance," and intended to sell them to NPP politicians or party members so they could run them. Members are interested in the sale of state properties; otherwise, why should they only be sold to politicians or NPP members?
History has revealed the persecution of other people because the perpetrators deemed themselves as superior to other races. The same concept is behind the “Agyapadie—Inheritance.” Some key figures in the NPP government belong to a tribe they feel superior to other Ghanaians. The NPP stole more money than required to ask for financial assistance from the IMF, yet they did, and the measures introduced by the government, including “debt restructuring,” affected many Ghanaians.
Many Ghanaians and those in the diaspora lost their entire savings. Eventually, many people, including pensioners, not only had their money stolen but also died out of misery. The impact of the “Agyapadie” was so devastating that they took their money from the banks to avoid stealing by the NPP government. The opposition NPP government is labeled Mahama, corrupt and incompetent. However, after intensifying his fight against corruption, they are accusing him of “witch hunting and persecution.”
Ghanaians must admit that President Akufo-Addo and his relative, Ken Ofori-Atta, committed treason when they wrote a thirty-four-page secret book outlining preparations for the Akyem elements of the NPP to take control of the country's important institutions. Therefore, I respectfully ask that His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, the president, establish a special court to try the offenders and, if found guilty, sentence them to prison.
