Aflao: 5-year-old girl killed in suspected ritual murder

The Aflao community in the Ketu South Municipality has been left devastated following the suspected ritual killing of a five-year-old girl on the evening of Monday, May 12, 2025.

According to accounts, the tragedy unfolded after the girl’s mother briefly stepped out, leaving the child and her younger sibling asleep at home. Upon returning, she discovered the five-year-old was missing, prompting an urgent search by neighbors and family.

That search took a chilling turn when the girl’s blood-stained clothes were discovered on the property of a man identified as Ahiable Yao David—a fan milk vendor and choir member in a local church.

The police were quickly alerted and launched a thorough investigation. During a search of the suspect’s room, officers reportedly found a pot buried beneath his bed containing human body parts believed to be those of the missing child.

Ahiable Yao David has since fled and is currently on the run. Police have intensified efforts to track him down and bring him to justice.

The heinous nature of the incident has sent shockwaves through the community. Residents, overwhelmed with grief and anger, are demanding swift action and justice for the innocent victim.

Authorities are urging anyone with information that could lead to the suspect’s arrest to report to the nearest police station immediately.
