No-fees-stress: Reimbursement of academic user fees to begin June 2025 — Students Loan Trust Fund

The Students Loan Trust Fund (SLTF) has announced that reimbursement of academic facility user fees for first-year students under the No-Fees-Stress policy will begin in June 2025.

The fund is urging eligible students in public tertiary institutions to submit their applications through the No-Fees-Stress portal at https://nofeesstress.sltf.gov.gh.

In a statement dated May 12 and signed by SLTF Chief Executive Officer, Dr Saajida Shiraz, the fund explained that applications will be verified against admission records from the respective public tertiary institutions.

“We urge all first-year students to apply promptly to secure their reimbursement,” the statement said.

“These reimbursements are in conformity with policy directives from the Ministry of Education and underline the John Dramani Mahama government’s commitment to investing in Ghana’s human capital and ensuring a brighter future for its youth,” it added.

The No-Fees-Stress policy was a key education promise made by the then opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), which pledged to waive academic user fees for all Level 100 students.

The initiative is aimed at reducing the financial burden that often forces students from low-income households to defer their university education.

As part of the programme, the government is also supporting these students through the Students Loan Trust Fund to fund their studies.

Speaking during his 120-day social contract address on Wednesday, May 7, President John Mahama disclosed that GH¢452,940,012.00 has been allocated to cover the fees of 156,294 first-year students.
