The Member of Parliament for Madina, Francis-Xavier Kojo Sosu, has defended the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board, Sammy Gyamfi, amid criticisms over his dollar gift to self-styled evangelist Nana Agradaa.

The MP, who is also a legal practitioner, argued that Sammy Gyamfi committed no crime and described critics as “haters” who are simply hurt.

In a social media post on Monday, May 12, Sosu said the backlash stems from people’s inability to accept that Gyamfi has been blessed and is now in a position to help others.

“It is well. You committed no crime. The haters are hurt. They can’t believe that God can lift and bless you such that you can become a blessing unto others. Leave them — let them do their worst. We got you. God has your back. Stay focused and blessed,” he wrote on X.

Sammy Gyamfi, who also serves as the National Communications Officer of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), was captured in a viral video handing over an undisclosed amount of cash to the former fetish priestess.

The act sparked widespread outrage and criticism, including from members of his own party.

The uproar compelled Gyamfi to issue an unqualified apology on Sunday, May 11, describing his action as unfortunate and regrettable.

“I understand the uproar that this gesture has generated, particularly from comrades who are sincerely hurt by same. To all such comrades, I am sincerely sorry for this unfortunate act of indiscretion. I respect and appreciate your views,” he wrote.
