Popular Ghanaian actor Seth Kwabena Kyere Karikari, better known as Koo Fori, has pleaded not guilty to charges of defrauding a U.S.-based Ghanaian citizen of $50,000 under the false pretense of securing land and building materials.
The veteran actor, recognized for his role in the television series Efiewura, appeared before the Dansoman Circuit Court where the charges were read to him.
According to the prosecution, Koo Fori is accused of taking the money from the complainant between 2021 and 2022 for the purpose of purchasing land and building materials in Ghana, but failed to fulfill his promises.
In court, Koo Fori denied the charges and maintained his innocence.
The presiding judge granted the actor bail and adjourned the case for further proceedings.
