Evangelist Patricia Asiedua, popularly known as Nana Agradaa, has finally addressed the controversy surrounding a viral video that captured National Democratic Congress (NDC) Communications Officer Sammy Gyamfi giving her $800.

In her response, she urged party members to view the incident not as a scandal, but as a divine act of kindness.

In a video widely shared on social media, the former fetish priestess downplayed the backlash and called on critics to celebrate the gesture rather than envy it.

“How much is $800?” she asked. “NDC supporters shouldn’t feel aggrieved because of this. The Bible says you should not covet your neighbour’s blessings—always tap into somebody’s blessings.”

Her remarks follow widespread criticism from NDC supporters and political figures, including former Member of Parliament Ras Mubarak, who expressed concern over the political optics of the act and the timing, given economic hardships and the weakening cedi.

Despite the backlash, Agradaa insisted that there was no wrongdoing, portraying the cash gift as a simple expression of goodwill. “If Mama Pat has been blessed by Sammy Gyamfi, then supporters of the party should pray to encounter the same blessing from him,” she said, warning critics: “If you condemn the act and someone blesses you, it is a curse.”

In light of the public outrage, Sammy Gyamfi released a formal apology via social media, clarifying his intent and expressing regret that the private gesture had gone public.

“This was simply a kind gesture to a fellow human being, in line with my daily and lifelong custom of lending a helping hand to people in need,” he wrote.

“I sincerely thought I was doing this act of kindness in private, and never imagined it could find its way into the public space. That is unfortunate and regrettable.”

Gyamfi acknowledged the concerns raised by members of his party and offered an apology for any offence caused.

“I understand the uproar this gesture has generated, particularly from comrades who are sincerely hurt by it. To all such comrades, I AM SINCERELY SORRY for this unfortunate act of indiscretion.”
