The real true story of Africa (part 1)

The real true story of Africa (part 1)

1492, village close to Elimina, Gold Coast, West Africa

(names changed to protect privacy of people involved)

Chief Kwame: „Folks look here, the nice mirror I got from these white people who say the country

they come from is called Protugal. It must be somewhere in Europe as they told me...whereever this

Europe might be...I don`t know!“
Kofi the herdsman: „This thing really looks adorable. It suits you my king. Indeed it is for a Chief

like you.“
Afia: „What I like most are the pearls they gave you...so shiny, so colourful. I have never seen

anything that can compare itself from us with these pearls. I wish...yes, I wish I could also get some

and hang them around my neck. I am sure they would suite me very well. After all, I am a woman

and need to look attractive to catch a man.“

Chief Kwame: „Folks...let`s get down to business. After the rituals with snaps and the blessings of

our Mallam it is time to go down to business. The reason for our gathering is simply and concerning

at the same time.“
Kofi:“Oh...oh, this does not sound good, my Chief.“

Chief Kwame: „You all know these people landed at our shores, gave us gifts and we accepted

them. We were all so happy. They landed with their big ships from far and carry serious weapons

not like ours we use to hunt bush meat. No, these white people are very different, the way they

dress, look, talk and think.“
Afia: „This is true...very funny people!“

Chief Kwame: „Now they said at the beginning they want to do trading with us. They want to find

out what we have to offer and they might need or want for their country in far, far away Europe.

The price and what they want is good as far as I can see. They said if I convince my people to sell

our gold and people to them for small money they would give me an extra income.“

Afia: „What...like serious?“
Kofi: „I mean...that is not the African style of doing business. That is not fair, Chief. Not fair at all!“

Chief Kwame: „Not only that! I have overheart them speaking in their tents...behind closed doors. I

did not understand everything they said but from what I understand thhey said is they want not only

trading they want us all.“
Afia: „What do you mean, chief?“
Kofi: „I guess...I fear chief wants to say they want to take our land, our people and everything

which is arouind us and belongs to us.“

Chief Kwame: „Exactly...that is what I think. Their intentions are not good for us. These people are

wicked. They are seriously dangerous.“
Afia: „Then we must do something right now...before it is too late or too difficult. Now I think we

still have a good chance to stop their evil minds from exploiting us. Before it is too late.“

Chief Kwame: „That is why I have asked you all to come to this midnight meeting. To find ways

how we can protect our interess and ourselves from these people that seem to be more educated and

advnced in their looks especially the weapons they carry with them.“

Kofi:“ Yes, my chief, these weapons are very, very dangerous. We must find their weak spots to

catch them!“
Afia: „I got it. They must eat and drink. They cannot bring food and water all the way from Europe

but they depend on the food and water here. What...if we...!

Chief Kwame: „You mean...we should ensure they have no food and water...for them either to die of

hunger here or leave?“
Afia: „This is our power, our strenght.“

Kofi: „And we do not have to do much...just to ensure they have no food and no water...their end on

our land."
