NPP Movement for Change rubbishes calls for Alan Kyerematen to rejoin NPP
TUE, 29 APR 2025

The Movement for Change has firmly rejected suggestions that its leader, Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, should return to the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).

The response comes after some NPP stalwarts proposed that the party consider bringing back former members who either broke away or were suspended, arguing that such a move could foster unity and strengthen the party’s chances ahead of the 2028 general elections.

But Ebo Buckman, a leading member and political strategist for the Movement for Change, says rejoining the NPP is not an option, given the party's current state.

Speaking on Kumasi-based OTEC 102.9 FM's afternoon political program Dwabrem, Buckman stated that the NPP should concentrate on fixing its internal issues rather than attempting to reunite with former members.

He criticised the NPP leadership for what he described as arrogance, which he believes contributed to the party's loss of political power.

Buckman insisted that Alan Kyerematen and other members of the Movement for Change are better off forging their own path, independent of the NPP.

He expressed full confidence in the direction and vision of the Movement for Change, dismissing any notion of a return to the NPP.
