Matilda Asante-Asiedu appointed Second Deputy Governor of Bank of Ghana

Mrs. Matilda Asante-Asiedu has been appointed as the Second Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana.

The appointment, made by President John Dramani Mahama, is in line with Section 17 of the Bank of Ghana Act, 2002 (Act 612).

The announcement was contained in a statement issued by the Presidency on April 28, signed by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Spokesperson to the President and Minister of State in charge of Government Communications.

Brief Background of Matilda Asante-Asiedu

Mrs. Asante-Asiedu is a Chartered Banker and an experienced corporate leader who previously served as Group Head, Retail Banking at Access Bank Ghana PLC.

She holds an MBA in Marketing from GIMPA Business School (2021) and an MA in Journalism Studies from Cardiff University (2005).

She also has diplomas in Journalism (Ghana Institute of Journalism, 1997) and Politics and Public Affairs Reporting (International Institute of Journalism, Berlin, 2000).

Mrs. Asante-Asiedu became a Chartered Executive Banker (CIB-Ghana) in 2024 and has undertaken Executive Programmes at the Said Business School at Oxford University (2023), the Wharton School (2015), and Marquette University’s Les Aspin Centre (2003), among others.

She joins Governor Dr. Johnson Asiama and First Deputy Governor Dr. Zakaria Mumuni, who were earlier sworn in by President Mahama, in running affairs at the country's central bank.
