President John Dramani Mahama will today, Monday, April 28, launch the Adwumawura Programme aimed at addressing youth unemployment in Ghana.

The Adwumawura Programme, a flagship initiative under the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), seeks to facilitate the creation, tracking, and mentoring of at least 10,000 businesses every year, with a special focus on young people.

The programme forms part of the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) ‘Resetting Ghana’ agenda and is designed to empower the youth with the necessary skills and resources to establish their own enterprises.

Ahead of the launch in Kumasi, the Minister for Youth Development and Empowerment, George Opare Addo, noted that the move is in fulfilment of one of the President’s key manifesto promises.

“In the run-up to the 2024 election, we made promises of creating decent and sustainable jobs for young people. One of the key initiatives we pledged to do was the Adwumawura Programme,” he said in a video shared on Saturday, April 26.

He encouraged the youth to fully embrace the initiative to help build a desirable future for the country.

“Young people, this is for you. Let’s take advantage of it, and let’s build the Ghana we want,” he said.

He also expressed gratitude to President Mahama for keeping his campaign promise to young Ghanaians.
