The only thing that can stop NPP’s 2028 election victory is division — NAPO

The 2024 running mate of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, known affectionately as NAPO, says internal division is the only obstacle that could prevent the party from winning the 2028 general elections.

In a social media post on Saturday, April 26, he stressed that a fragmented party would struggle to win elections, no matter how strong its flagbearer.

He also claimed that Ghanaians are already feeling the absence of the NPP just four months after the party handed over power to the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) on January 7, 2025.

“During our discussions, I reminded them that the strength of a united party is essential for victory in 2028.

“I pointed out that the absence of the NPP has already been felt by the people of Ghana, and the only obstacle to our success would be internal division. A fragmented party, no matter how strong its flagbearer, stands no chance of winning elections,” he wrote.

NAPO made these comments after a meeting with the party’s Bono East Regional Chairman and constituency executives in Wenchi on Thursday.

The former Manhyia South Member of Parliament and Energy Minister reiterated his call for the party to stay united to wrestle power from the NDC in the next elections.

“I emphasized the critical role these leaders [regional and constituency executives] play in fostering unity within our ranks. They must stand firm against any forces that aim to divide us. United, we stand tall; divided, we fall! I reaffirmed my commitment to a united NPP and to the hard work ahead as we strive to reclaim power in 2028,” he said.
