A distinguished member of the Prampram [Gbugbla] Traditional Council, Asafoatse Lartey Bantama IV, has declared his firm resolve to eliminate prostitution within the town.

Speaking exclusively with this portal, Asafoatse Lartey Bantama IV, who is the community’s revered war leader and custodian of its defence and well-being, identified the eradication of prostitution as a key priority.

The Asafoatse expressed deep concern over Prampram’s reported status as a town with high prevalence rates of both HIV and prostitution.

He further stated that the increasing presence of foreign individuals engaged in prostitution is degrading the town and affirmed his intention to take strong measures to remove these individuals and address this concerning anomaly.

“Prampram is considered the town in Ghana with the highest rates of HIV and prostitution. Foreigners have engulfed the town, and they are degrading it with prostitution and HIV. So, I want to put my foot down and remove all of them to curb this anomaly,” he said.

Asafoatse Lartey Bantama IV, who took over the reign in 2021, has become synonymous with self-help development within the community.

Recognising the potential within his people and understanding their needs firsthand, he has consistently championed initiatives driven by local resources and collective effort.

His influence has been instrumental in tangible progress, from the construction of vital infrastructure to the establishment of community support systems.

One notable example is the revitalisation of the main lorry station, where he spent over GHC400,000.00 to renovate it.

He emphasised his continuous support for the indigenes since his enstoolment, particularly focusing on job creation for the youth.

“Ever since I was made the Asafoatse of the town, I have been helping the indigenes in various ways. One of the things I want to do is for the youth to get jobs,” he said

As far the people of Prampram are aware, Asafoatse Bantama is not a member of the Prampram Traditional Council. Secondly, he is not Asafoatse of the town as it has been said. He is Asafoatse of Agbazo Wen clan, one of many clans in Prampram. He is not Asafoatse for the town. This misinformation should be corrected.
