Executive Director of Global InfoAnalytics, Mussa Dankwah, has revealed that a majority of Ghanaians support the process to remove Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo even though they are unaware of the specific allegations against her.
Speaking on Accra-based Channel One TV on Saturday, April 19, Mr. Dankwah said their latest poll was designed to assess public sentiment on the removal process in the absence of any publicly known offence.
“We asked voters whether they support the process to remove [the Chief Justice], even though we have not seen any evidence of impropriety,” he disclosed.
According to him, the findings show that 52% of respondents back the removal process despite the lack of clear evidence, while 20% opposed it, 18% remained neutral, and 10% had no opinion.
This comes amid three separate petitions that have been forwarded by President John Mahama to the Council of State seeking the removal of Chief Justice Torkornoo in line with Article 146(6) of the 1992 Constitution.
Meanwhile, the National Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Richard Ahiagbah, says the President has an ulterior motive behind the current petitions seeking the dismissal of Chief Justice Gertrude Esaaba Torkornoo.
According to him, the President wants the Chief Justice removed and replaced with his preferred candidate to facilitate plans to dismiss the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Jean Mensa, and her deputy, Bossman Asare.
Speaking on Accra-based Channel One TV’s Big Issue on Saturday, April 19, the NPP spokesperson alleged that the President received petitions seeking the removal of the EC bosses long before the ones targeting the Chief Justice.

Don't forget that, aside the charges in the petitions, we have all witnessed and complained about her obvious partisan bias (together with unanimous 7 (or 9) over the period that she has headed the judiciary. Some have even described her as NPP women organizer. So, we have a fair idea how she and her criminal colleagues on the SC have perverted and hijacked and privatised the Judiciary Authority of the State to push NPP partisan interests. After all, the petitioners did not come from Jupiter. T...
