
A tragic accident on the Kumasi-Obuase Highway has claimed the lives of four people, including a six-month-old baby, while leaving several others injured.
The crash occurred at Odumase on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, when a Ford vehicle, registered as GW-281-12 and traveling from Tarkwa to Kumasi, attempted to overtake and collided head-on with a Sprinter bus, registered as AC-1794-17.
Hon. Sampson Appiah, Assembly Member for the Biibi Wo Man Mu Electoral Area, confirmed to OTEC News that the injured were rushed to the Okomfo Anokye Teaching Hospital for treatment.
According to him, the driver of the Ford vehicle sustained severe injuries and lost one of his legs, while the Sprinter bus driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
Rescue efforts by the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) were required to free some of the injured passengers from the wreckage.
Hon. Appiah attributed the accident to speeding and urged law enforcement authorities to intensify monitoring of reckless driving on the highway.
