Youth activist Oliver Barker-Vormawor has raised concerns about the government’s recruitment process for water guards, questioning the transparency of the hiring process.
He criticized the lack of public advertisements for the role, arguing that all interested Ghanaians should have been given a fair opportunity to apply.
His remarks come at a time when the government is dismissing employees over what it describes as improper hiring practices, a move Barker-Vormawor finds contradictory.
In a social media post, he expressed his frustration, stating, “While we are on the topic. Where did this ridiculous water guard idea come from?"
"I didn’t even see any advertisement recruiting people. Then all of a sudden people are wearing ugly uniforms and matching out of formation."
"Ah! Play Dey wanna eye top ooo!"
"Is it environmental destruction we are toying with like it’s some kwasasa game?”
His comments suggest skepticism about the effectiveness of the newly introduced water guards and whether their recruitment followed due process.
