MTN Ghana, a leading telecommunications company, has made a significant donation to the Tamale Central Mosque in preparation for this year's Eid-ul-Fitr celebration.
The donation, which included bags of rice, a ram, cooking oil, soft drinks, and bottled water, was presented to the mosque's leadership, representing the Northern Regional Chief Imam, Sheikh Abdul-Salam Ahmed.
Northern Regional Area Sales Manager of MTN Ghana, Collins Agyei, addressing journalists after the donation, stated, "Ramadan is a period where Muslims go through spiritual renewal, so we saw the need to support the Muslim community during this period, considering the key role they play in national unity and their contribution to our business."
"We also made this donation to show our appreciation for the support they continue to give to MTN. Our Muslim brothers contribute hugely to our business community and promote peace. By giving this kind of support to them, it's our way of saying thank you," he added.
Mr. Agyei took the opportunity to highlight the benefits of MTN's MoMo App and MyMTN App, which enable customers to perform transactions faster.
He explained that these apps offer customers convenience and help them track data usage, call duration, MoMo balance, and several other services.
Secretary to the Regional Chief Imam, Alhaji Mohammed Habibu Abdullah, expressed gratitude to MTN Ghana for the annual donation to the Muslim Ummah, aimed at feeding especially the less privileged.
He assured that the items would be used for the intended purpose, stating that individuals who would have found it difficult to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr would be considered.
