Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has reaffirmed the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) resilience, declaring that no amount of intimidation or political persecution will break their resolve.

Speaking on the 2025 Budget Statement and Economic Policy in Parliament, Mr. Afenyo-Markin accused the government of weaponizing state institutions to suppress political opponents.

“Mr. Speaker, you can arrest all of us, but we will remain resolute. No amount of intimidation will break our spirit. In 2028, we will defeat you and restore true governance to this country,” he asserted.

He further criticized what he described as the government’s misuse of the justice system, arguing that true governance should focus on national progress rather than politically motivated prosecutions.

“Mr. Speaker, a government that prioritises persecution over progress is bound to fail. Ghanaians are watching, and they will decide in 2028,” he cautioned.

Mr. Afenyo-Markin urged members of the NPP to stay united and assured them that the Minority remained committed to protecting democracy and holding the government accountable.

The 2025 Budget Statement, presented by Finance Minister Dr. Ato Forson on March 11 under the theme “Resetting Ghana for the Economy We Want,” has since been the subject of intense debate.
