Former Vice President and flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia brought excitement to the Central Business District (CBD) of Kumasi when he visited areas affected by a recent fire outbreak.
Traders, who were mourning the devastating impact of the fire on their businesses, went into a jubilant mood upon seeing Dr. Bawumia arrive. They welcomed him with chants of "Woy3 y3 y3 a Bawumia b3ba" and "Bawumia na y3 p3."
Accompanying Dr. Bawumia were several dignitaries, including the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP, Mr. Benard Antwi Bosiako, also known as Wontumi, former Ashanti Regional Minister Hon. Simon Osei Mensah, MP for Subin Constituency Hon. Kofi Obiri Yeboah and former MP for Nhyiaeso Hon. Kankam.
In a show of support for the affected traders, Dr. Bawumia donated GH₵ 200,000 and a thousand bags of cement to those whose businesses had been impacted, while also pledging to assist in the rebuilding efforts. He urged the government to provide all necessary aid to help these traders return to business.
Addressing the media, Dr. Bawumia described the scene as heart-wrenching, stating that it had given him sleepless nights upon witnessing the extent of the devastation.
