Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has reaffirmed the opposition’s resilience, insisting that politically motivated arrests and persecution under the Mahama administration will not deter them.

“You can arrest all of us, but we will remain resolute. No amount of intimidation will break our spirit. In 2028, we will defeat you and restore true governance to this country,” he declared.

Speaking after the debate on the 2025 Budget Statement on Tuesday, March 25, Afenyo-Markin accused the government of weaponizing state institutions to suppress its political opponents. He argued that such tactics would ultimately backfire.

“A government that prioritises persecution over progress is bound to fail. Ghanaians are watching, and they will decide in 2028,” he asserted.

He called on his fellow opposition members to stand firm, expressing confidence in their ability to reclaim power in the next elections.

Meanwhile, lawyer Samuel Atta Akyea has criticized the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), accusing the agency of obstructing him from properly engaging with his clients, Kwabena Adu-Boahene, the former Director-General of the National Signals Bureau (NSB), and his wife, Angela Boateng, following their arrest.

According to Atta Akyea, Adu-Boahene was taken into custody on Thursday, March 20, while his wife, Angela, was arrested the next day when she voluntarily went to EOCO’s offices to check on her husband.

“A common thief will run away after her husband has been arrested. She will not walk into harm’s way. They have since been incarcerated,” he said.

Speaking on Citi Prime News, he revealed that EOCO had prevented him from properly questioning his clients before their official interrogation.

“I had access to them yesterday. I had to respect the mandate of the constitution that I should interrogate them or talk to them before EOCO starts working on them because they have the right to counsel. They even have the right to remain silent,” he stated.

Would those votes come from the people or through rigging? More importantly, based on what, Kwabena Adu-Boahene stealing state money to buy 27 houses or Cecilia Dapahh stealing one million dollars, which would inspire any intelligent Ghanaian to vote for the NPP to win the 2028 elections? You sound like someone mentally depressed. In developed countries, politicians undergo a medical routine of psychological tests, but I don't know of Ghana.

Does 2025 Budget inspire hope?
