Former NSA Boss paid MP to kill stories, suppress coverage of ‘Ghost Names’ scandal — Attorney General

Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Dr. Dominic Ayine, has exposed a shocking attempt to suppress media coverage of a corruption scandal within the National Service Scheme (NSS).

According to Dr. Ayine, former NSS Director-General Osei Assibey Antwi paid a sitting Member of Parliament to prevent journalists from reporting on the widespread issue of ghost names within the scheme.

Updating the public on the progress of investigations led by the Attorney General’s office and the ORAL team, Dr. Ayine confirmed that authorities had made significant headway in uncovering corruption at the NSS.

He revealed that eight individuals linked to the scandal had been interrogated, with several providing incriminating evidence that could lead to further prosecutions.

As investigations continue, the Attorney General assured the public that all those implicated in the fraudulent activities will be held accountable.

“Because these matters are still under investigation, I can confirm that the investigation will conclude in the National Service and the Sky Train Scandal by the middle of April for the prosecution to begin.

“With the National Service Scandal, eight suspects have been interrogated and a good number of them have started singing. We now have evidence of payments that were made into the accounts of the top executives of the National Service by private vendors of the scheme.

“We also have evidence that in November 2024, the CEO of the NSS and others paid a Ghanaian Member of Parliament to kill the story in the media and to defend them,” he stated.
