Heathrow And Kejetia Infernos; The Juxtaposition

Feature Article Heathrow And Kejetia Infernos; The Juxtaposition
SUN, 23 MAR 2025

An electricity power station supplying the London Heathrow Airport caught fire last night, plunging the entire local area into massive power outage.

10 Fire engines and 70 firefighters contained the blaze. 67,000 homes had no power, but it's now been reduced to 5000. It impacted 3,500 passengers.

The Mayor of London and MP for the area have spoken. The Deputy Commissioner of London Fire Brigade Jonathan Smith has also held a press briefing.

And the London Police have actually launched investigation into the incident to determine if there is any act of terrorism involved or it's pure accident.

The spokesperson of Heathrow Airport has also updated the general public about extent of operational disruptions and for how long it is going to last.

A 200-meter cordon was put in place to ensure members of the public didn't get anywhere close to the location of the incident to put any lives in jeopardy.

What has been the negative news about the incident is that, hotels close to the Airport have increased their pricetags by between whooping 100% to 200%!!!

In all, the problem was swiftly, professionally, and competently handled. The safety of the people was paramount and the public well-informed.

Juxtaposition

Juxtaposition of this to this morning's fire in Kumasi: the fire service personnel did their very best but that wasn't enough due to lack of water hydrants.

Even the Fire Engines brought to salvage the situation could not gain access to source of the inferno, due to haphazard erection of illegal structures.

And in the midst of the raging inferno, people besieged the vicinity to retrieve their items, while thieves were also actively playing their criminal trade.

We don't even know either the number of Fire engines and personnel involved in the exercise. Information to the public has so far been so sketchy.

The regional minister went to the place in a convoy of SUVs with despatch riders just to walk about, completely oblivious to what was really happening.

We were once told that investigations into Kanatamato and Circle fires revealed the cause as cable-eating mouse and piece of cigarette, respectively!!!
