Fishermen in Senya Bereku, located in the Awutu Senya West District of the Central Region, have expressed deep appreciation to President John Dramani Mahama and his government for delivering much-needed premix fuel after enduring a nine-month shortage.

The Chairman of the Premix Fuel Committee, Richard Agyie, described the overwhelming relief among the fishermen, who had struggled with fuel scarcity for months.

"For the past nine months, there was no premix fuel for the fishermen here. We are immensely grateful to the Member of Parliament, who also serves as the Deputy Minister for Works and Housing, Hon. Gizella Agbotui Tetteh, and the Minister for Fisheries, Hon. Emelia Arthur, for their efforts," he stated.

While acknowledging the government's intervention, Mr. Agyie also urged President Mahama to take immediate action to address the dangers posed by a poorly constructed sea defense, which he described as a death trap.

Hon. Gizella Tetteh Agbotui, MP for the Awutu Senya West Constituency, also expressed gratitude to President Mahama and Minister Emelia Arthur for prioritizing the needs of fishermen in her constituency. She stressed that the premix fuel supply would help eliminate the risks associated with using petrol for fishing activities.

"Our government holds the welfare of fishermen close to its heart, and we will continue to work for their benefit," she assured.

The intervention has brought renewed hope to the fishing community, as they look forward to smoother operations and continued support from the government.
