As a Unit Committee Member representing the Avenuie Electoral Area, I am compelled to speak out on behalf of my fellow committee members and the communities we serve. Recently, the government announced an allowance package for assembly members, but unfortunately, Unit Committee Members were excluded from this package.
As grassroots leaders, Unit Committee Members play a vital role in community development and governance. We work tirelessly to identify community needs, provide feedback to assembly members, and support local development projects. Our work matters, and it's esbsential that our efforts are recognized and valued.
The Electoral Commission of Ghana emphasizes the importance of Unit Committee Members in local governance, stating that we are elected to represent our communities and provide a link between the community and the assembly ¹. Given our critical role, it's only fair that we are included in the allowance package.
I urge the government to reconsider its decision and include Unit Committee Members in the allowance package. This will not only demonstrate appreciation for our hard work but also motivate us to continue serving our communities with dedication and passion.
As a dedicated community leader, I am committed to advocating for the rights and interests of Unit Committee Members. I believe that our collective efforts can make a significant difference in the lives of our community members. Let us work together to ensure that our voices are heard and our contributions are valued.
