The National Investigations Bureau (NIB) has interrogated Osei Assibey Antwi, the former Executive Director of the National Service Authority (NSA), as part of an ongoing probe into the ghost names scandal that has rocked the institution.
CitiNewsroom reports that Mr. Assibey Antwi was invited by the NIB and appeared before investigators on Thursday, March 20, accompanied by his lawyer.
He reportedly faced several hours of questioning regarding allegations that non-existent personnel were fraudulently added to the NSA payroll. However, it remains unclear whether he was released after the interrogation.
The NIB launched its investigation after an exposé by The Fourth Estate revealed widespread irregularities within the scheme. Prior to Mr. Assibey Antwi’s questioning, two former Deputy Directors of the NSA, Gifty Oware Mensah and Kwaku Ohene Djan, were also summoned and interrogated over their roles in the alleged fraud.
The scandal has sparked serious concerns over financial mismanagement and systemic loopholes within the NSA. In response, stakeholders are calling for stricter oversight, accountability, and punitive measures against those found complicit to restore public trust in the scheme.
