President John Dramani Mahama has instructed the Ministry of Finance to rescope the Pwalugu Multipurpose Dam project, integrating it into his administration’s Big Push infrastructure initiative to ensure adequate financial and technical support for agriculture, irrigation, and flood control in the Upper East Region.
Announcing this during his Thank You tour at Jubilee Park in Bolgatanga, Mahama expressed deep appreciation to the Chiefs and people of the region for their support in the 2024 general elections and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to addressing development challenges.
He also acknowledged the poor state of road infrastructure, particularly the Bolgatanga-Bawku road and the Bolgatanga-Wa road, emphasizing the hardships faced by commuters.
“The people of the Upper East Region deserve better roads, and I want to assure you that we are determined to complete these projects to ease transportation and boost economic activities,” he stated.
Mahama’s Thank You tour has allowed him to directly engage traditional leaders and citizens, reinforcing his pledge to bridge infrastructural deficits and accelerate regional development.
His next stop on the nationwide tour is the Northern Region, where he is expected to continue similar engagements.
