The National Youth Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Salam Mustapha, has issued a bold warning to National Security operatives, cautioning them against being used as political tools by the current administration.
In a strongly worded statement, Mustapha reminded security personnel that their positions are tied to the tenure of the current government and that any actions perceived as politically motivated would not be forgotten after the next elections in 2028.
"National Security has been moved to the Office of the President hence, cannot act thereof without clearance. Those who have allowed themselves to be used by politicians at the top, know that your tenure is coterminous to that of this administration," he stated.
Mustapha’s remarks suggest growing concerns within the NPP about the role of state security agencies in political affairs. He emphasized that those who misuse their positions under the current administration would be held accountable once the government changes.
"In 2028, after the results are declared, we will come after you. Even if you die, we will exhume your bodies or chase your ghosts and catch them and deal with [you],” he warned.
His statement underscores the high stakes and political tensions as government begins its reset agenda. He further stressed that power is temporary, cautioning those in authority against abusing it.
“Power is not just transient but fleeting as well,” he added.
The statement has since sparked reactions across political and security circles, with many questioning the implications of such a strong declaration from a high-ranking party official.
