'Nobody can shut my mouth, Who is Justin Kodua to tell us not to speak?' — Adwoa Safo fires back at NPP gag orders

Former Member of Parliament for Dome Kwabenya, Sarah Adwoa Safo, has strongly pushed back against attempts to silence her, insisting that she has every right to speak on party matters despite directives from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) General Secretary.

Her remarks come in response to a reported gag order issued by the party’s leadership, urging members to refrain from making public statements about internal issues following the NPP’s defeat in the 2024 general elections.

Speaking in a fiery statement, Adwoa Safo questioned why the party’s General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, was allowed to embark on a media tour explaining the party’s loss, while others were being asked to remain silent.

“Who is the NPP General Secretary to tell us not to speak? When he was doing a media tour from radio stations to TV stations explaining himself after our defeat in order to gain solidarity from party executives to maintain his position, who questioned him?” she fired back.

She made it clear that she would not be intimidated into silence, insisting that no one within the party had the power to stop her from expressing her views.

“Nobody can shut my mouth not to talk,” she declared defiantly.

Adwoa Safo further warned the General Secretary against being influenced by external forces, reminding him that he would soon face an election to retain his position within the party.

“The General Secretary should know very well that he has an election coming and must not be allowed for people to manipulate him,” she cautioned.

Her comments signal growing internal tensions within the NPP, as the party struggles to recover from its electoral defeat and prepare for upcoming internal elections.
