Franklin Cudjoe, President of IMANI Africa, has strongly denounced the raid on the residence of former Bank of Ghana (BoG) Governor, Dr. Ernest Addison, calling it an abuse of power.

The operation, allegedly conducted by national security operatives on Wednesday, March 19, took place at Dr. Addison’s Roman Ridge home in Accra. Reports indicate that the security personnel disabled the CCTV system before proceeding with a search.

Following the raid, Majority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin alleged that money, earrings, and necklaces belonging to Dr. Addison’s wife were missing.

Reacting to the incident, Cudjoe condemned the apparent misuse of search warrants, emphasizing that such legal tools should serve their intended purpose—not be used as a pretext for vandalism, theft, or intimidation.

In a Facebook post on Thursday, March 20, Franklin Cudjoe stated, “It is embarrassing for the Majority Leader of the ruling government to be rendering apologies on behalf of state-sponsored thugs who raid the home of citizens.

“In a civilised country, warrants secured are for lawful searches, not to vandalise property, steal food, money and jewelry.”
