Michael Harry Yamson, the acting Administrator of the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF), has acknowledged that he did not complete the mandatory national service after graduating from university.
Under Ghanaian law, all graduates of accredited tertiary institutions are required to undertake a one-year national service programme before securing public sector employment. This initiative aims to equip young professionals with practical experience while contributing to national development.
Appearing before the Appointments Committee of Parliament on Thursday, March 20, 2025, Mr. Yamson was directly questioned about his compliance with this requirement.
In response, he openly admitted, “No, Mr. Chair,” confirming that he had not fulfilled the obligation.
Before his nomination, Mr. Yamson served as a board member of Unichem Ghana Group and was the Managing Partner at Ishmael Yamson and Associates since 2021.
His career includes key leadership roles at Unilever, Celtel International, and MTI Ghana Limited, where he specialized in brand development, investment strategy, and market expansion.
