Mahama keeps flying in Ibrahim Mahama’s jet, but Ablakwa is silent — Akufo-Addo’s lawyer

Legal counsel to former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Kow Essuman, has criticized President John Dramani Mahama’s continued use of his brother Ibrahim Mahama’s private jet.

The NPP stalwart expressed surprise that Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, who previously criticized Akufo-Addo for avoiding the presidential jet, is now silent on the matter.

In a social media post on Tuesday, March 18, Mr. Essuman also raised concerns about the double standards of Ablakwa.

“Dzata Airlines continues to transport the President during his official travels. Yet, my brother Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa remains silent regarding the costs to the nation and issues of conflict of interest, particularly in his new role as Foreign Minister.

“Indeed, we have all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. Lord, please forgive us,” his post read.

Meanwhile, addressing public concerns, Presidential Spokesperson Felix Kwakye Ofosu explained that the arrangement does not have any financial burden on Ghanaian taxpayers, as the jet was provided at no cost.

This comes after President Mahama arrived in Sierra Leone for an official visit using his brother’s private jet.

He was welcomed by President Dr. Julius Maada Bio and Ghana’s diplomatic representatives at Freetown International Airport, where the two leaders are expected to hold bilateral talks to strengthen ties.
