Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has reaffirmed his commitment to resolving the long-standing conflict in Bawku, stating that discussions with key stakeholders are ongoing to bring lasting peace to the area.
He made this known when the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr Frank Amoakohene, along with other Members of Parliament, paid a courtesy visit to him at the Manhyia Palace in the Ashanti Region on Monday, March 17, 2025.
“We are still on the Bawku issue. Now gun violence is on the low. I have invited the leaders of the parties involved; Bawku Naaba and the Nayiri. I have also spoken with the Mossi and Hausa ethnic groups.
“The Naayiri was not feeling very well but I am waiting for a representative from his palace to come and see me on Tuesday. Then we can all have a conversation about the conflict,” he stated.
“I want to appeal to everyone in Bawku to lay down their weapons. I told all the stakeholders to inform their people to lay down their tools. We are addressing all the historical challenges, which is fuelling the conflict," he stated.
