The Oyoko RC Basic School in Koforidua, located in the Eastern Region, has recently opened a technology center designed to enhance teaching and learning.

The well-equipped center was officially commissioned on Friday, March 13, 2025, and features ten modern computers along with an installed RACHEL Plus Wi-Fi device.

This Technology Center, provided by the Quashie School Projects Foundation and the Wilde Ganzen Foundation with support from Empower Playgrounds, demonstrates the foundation's commitment to improving education and advancing information studies among students.

During the inauguration ceremony, the Oyokohene, the traditional leader of the community, encouraged the students to make the most of this new resource. "This technology center is a gift to you, and it's up to you to utilize it fully. Learn, explore, and grow, and remember that education is the key to unlocking your full potential," he said.

Madam Moniek Jacobs, founder and ambassador of the Quashie School Projects Foundation, expressed that her passion for technology inspired her to support this initiative. She urged both students and teaching staff to keep updated with technological advancements. "Technology is constantly evolving, and it's essential that you stay abreast of the latest developments. This will not only enhance your learning experience but also prepare you for the challenges of the digital age."

Acknowledging the support from the foundations, Madam Millicent Brakoa Ofosu, the headteacher of the school, called for further assistance to enhance teaching and learning. She emphasized that the center marks a significant milestone in their pursuit of innovation and academic excellence. "As we inaugurate this technology center, let us reaffirm our commitment to providing our students with the best possible education. This facility will serve as a hub for learning, creativity, and innovation, and we look forward to witnessing its impact on our students."

Mr. Philip Omane Yamoah, the School Improvement Support Officer for the Oyoko Circuit, commended the organizations for this life-changing initiative. He assured the foundations of their continued support, highlighting the importance of the technology center. "This technology center is a game-changer for our students. It will provide them with access to a wealth of information, resources, and opportunities that will enhance their learning experience and prepare them for success in the digital age."

Mr. Isaac Darko-Mensah, the country director for Empower Playgrounds, reiterated the necessity for school management to establish suitable maintenance protocols. "We are committed to supporting the school in maintaining this facility. However, we urge the school management to implement a robust maintenance plan to ensure the technology center remains functional and effective in the long term."

Students and parents present at the ceremony also expressed their appreciation for the initiative led by the donors.
