A deadly reprisal attack has claimed the life of a resident of Sagabo, following the shooting of two Level 400 students from Gambaga College of Education on Wednesday, March 12, 2025.
The victim, who was herding cattle near the Sagabo-Zoogin area in Bawku, was fatally shot as tensions escalated.
The initial attack on the students occurred in Gambaga township, with authorities linking the incident to the ongoing Bawku conflict, which has persisted since November 2021 due to disputes over chieftaincy.
Since the resurgence of violence in October 2024, the conflict has claimed 73 lives, including women and children.
