Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has submitted a set of tax amendment bills to Parliament as part of the government’s strategy to reform revenue policies and enhance fiscal management.
The proposed changes involve scrapping certain levies and revising existing tax laws to stimulate economic growth, reduce financial pressure on businesses and individuals, and improve tax collection.
The bills up for amendment include:
- Electronic Transfer Levy (Repeal) Bill, 2025
- Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund (Amendment) Bill, 2025
- Revenue Administration (Amendment) Bill, 2025
- Special Import Levy (Amendment) Bill, 2025
- Emissions Levy (Repeal) Bill, 2025
- Income Tax (Amendment) Bill, 2025
- Growth and Sustainability Levy (Amendment) Bill, 2025
- Earmarked Funds Capping and Realignment (Amendment) Bill, 2025
These amendments align with the 2025 Budget’s broader fiscal policy, aiming to modernize Ghana’s tax system, foster economic expansion, and create a more balanced and sustainable tax structure.
The bills have been forwarded to the Parliamentary Committee on Finance for review before they proceed to debate and approval.
