Dear Editor, I would like to draw the attention of the government, particularly the Ministry of Women and Children's Affairs, to the alarming rate of teenage pregnancy in the rural areas, compared to the urban areas.
I believe this problem can be solved when the Ministry of Education, Science and Sports introduces sex education on the academic curriculum.
Secondly, educational facilities such as libraries, community centres, youth counselling centres and other facilities should be set up in the rural areas so that the youth there will be enlightened on the effects of teenage pregnancy.
Last but not least, the ministry should involve organisations or clubs that can go to various schools in the rural areas to educate the pupils and students on the effects of teenage pregnancy.
