
The Old Achimotan Association (OAA24) is grieving the devastating loss of two of its members, Davida Asante Boateng and Lilian Akorli, both affiliated with Stopford House.
The young women lost their lives in a tragic accident on March 7, 2025, along the Achimota Highway in Accra.
Accident Details
According to an official report from the OAA24 Executive Board, the victims were on their way back to the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) after attending the Annual Bonfire Celebration at Achimota School.
At approximately 11:30 PM, while crossing the highway, they were struck by a black Toyota Corolla. Witnesses reported that the driver failed to stop, leaving bystanders to rush the injured women to the hospital.
Medical staff received them at around 12:02 AM, but despite their efforts, Davida Asante Boateng was pronounced dead at 4:00 AM on March 8. Lilian Akorli, who had suffered critical injuries, succumbed later that morning.
Community Response
In an official statement signed by OAA24 President Brainard Apraku and General Secretary Wendy Naaki Tetteh, the association expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy and pledged its unwavering support to the families of the deceased.
“The Old Achimotan Association (OAA24) extends our deepest condolences to the families of Davida and Lilian. We will continue to provide support to their families and find ways to honor their memory,” the statement read.
The association also assured the public that it would share further details on the accident as they became available.
