Some 6,635 service personnel from the 2024–2025 batch who have not yet finished their biometric validation have been given a 30-day grace period by the National Service Authority (NSA), with the warning that noncompliance will result in their removal from the system.
These personnel, who have been deployed since October 1, 2024, are required to complete their biometric validation at their respective regional offices by March 19, 2025, according to a press statement released by the NSA on Tuesday, February 18.
“All deployed personnel who have not yet completed their final biometric validation at their respective Regional Offices are granted a 30-day grace period, ending on March 19, 2025, to fulfill this requirement. Failure to comply within this period will result in the automatic nullification of their registration and posting, in accordance with the law,” the statement read.
The instruction is a component of a larger initiative to improve accountability, efficiency, and openness in the national service deployment process, which is consistent with the administration's transformation strategy under President John Dramani Mahama.
The action is in line with the NSA Act 2024 (ACT 1119), which states that employees who do not report to their designated agency within three months after posting are deemed to have dodged service, the NSA said.
No service personnel will be paid until they have successfully finished their biometric validation and reported to their designated district for a monthly evaluation, the authority emphasized.
Meanwhile, the President has also directed the National Investigations Bureau (NIB) to probe the authority’s operations following the discovery of 81,885 ghost names on the scheme’s payroll after a headcount initiated by the current Ministry of Finance Ato Forson.
