Business & Finance NPA sets new fuel prices for February pricing window
TUE, 18 FEB 2025

The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has introduced a new price floor for petroleum products, mandating Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) and LPG Marketing Companies (LPGMCs) to adhere to minimum pricing standards for the second pricing window of February.

Effective from February 16 to 28, 2025, the directive prevents companies from selling fuel below the set thresholds, with non-compliance attracting regulatory sanctions.

Under the revised pricing structure, the minimum prices are as follows:

  • Petrol: GH₵12.56 per litre
  • Diesel: GH₵13.45 per litre
  • LPG: GH₵14.26 per kilogram

The move aligns with the Petroleum Pricing Guidelines, which aim to maintain stability in the downstream petroleum sector.

However, the newly set price floors do not include premiums charged by International Oil Trading Companies (IOTCs), operating margins of Bulk Import, Distribution, and Export Companies (BIDECs), or the marketing and dealer margins of OMCs and LPGMCs. These cost factors will continue to be determined independently under Ghana’s price deregulation policy.

By enforcing a price floor, the NPA seeks to prevent unfair price undercutting among industry players, ensuring a competitive and stable fuel market.
