The Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed–Mubarak, has inaugurated a Seven-Member Committee to review the recruitment processes for the Ghana Police Service, Prisons Service, National Fire Service, Immigration Service and other related agencies under the Ministry.
The newly formed committee, which includes professionals with expertise in security administration, public service and law, will also assess compliance with due processes and provide recommendations to improve efficiency, accountability and transparency in the recruitment procedures.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, the Minister emphasised the government’s commitment to ensuring that Ghana’s security services are professional, efficient and capable of safeguarding the nation.
He noted that ensuring a fair and transparent recruitment process is a critical component of achieving this vision because it directly affects the credibility and effectiveness of the country’s security forces.
Mr Muntaka urged them to approach their mandate with diligence, objectivity and integrity, adding that their findings and recommendations would play a crucial role in shaping the future of security sector recruitment in Ghana.
The Chairman of the Committee, Yaw Akrasi Sarpong, assured the Minister and the public that the committee would work diligently to deliver a comprehensive report and expressed his gratitude to the Minister for the opportunity to serve on the committee pledging to work closely with all stakeholders to ensure the success of the committee’s work.
The committee is expected to complete its work within two weeks and submit a comprehensive report detailing its findings, challenges identified, and specific recommendations for policy, procedural, and institutional reforms.
