The Office of the Resident Representative of the President of the ECOWAS Commission in Cabo Verde organized a strategic meeting in Praia, bringing together representatives from the ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE) and the Multinational Maritime Coordination Centre (MMCC) Zone G.
The meeting included all staff members and featured the participation of the Coordinator of the ECOWAS National Office.
The primary objective of the gathering was to facilitate the exchange of information among the participating institutions, allowing them to share their missions, key areas of intervention, and progress achieved. Additionally, the initiative sought to reinforce collaboration and synergy among the employees of the various entities.
Ms. Isa Morais, Coordinator of the ECOWAS National Office, reaffirmed the commitment to strengthening cooperation among regional bodies to foster more integrated and sustainable development.
During the meeting, Capt. (N) Seydina Djibril Mbengue, Director of MMCC Zone G, delivered a detailed presentation on the Centre’s functions and accomplishments in its first year of operation. He highlighted major achievements and outlined short- and medium-term goals.
Ms. Kelly Lopes, Political Advisor to the Resident Representative, provided insights into the mandate, structure, and key activities of the Office of the Resident Representative of the President of the ECOWAS Commission in Cabo Verde.
Mr. Francis Sempore, Executive Director of ECREEE and Acting ECOWAS Resident Representative, presented an overview of ECREEE’s activities and its progress in promoting renewable energy and energy efficiency across the ECOWAS region.
The event featured individual presentations from each institution, followed by an interactive Q&A session. This facilitated a productive discussion on future collaboration opportunities and laid the groundwork for enhanced coordination in implementing ECOWAS initiatives in Cabo Verde.
