The Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mustapha Gbande has stated that state security will arrest former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta when he returns to Ghana.
According to him, the arrest will be made in a ‘rambo-style’ as soon as the former Finance Minister touches down at the Airport.
“We will arrest Ken Ofori-Atta, and we will do it in a ‘rambo-style’ at the airport,” Mustapha Gbande told Starr News in an interview.
Ken Ofori-Atta is currently out of the country for medical attention.
On Wednesday, February 12, the former Finance Minister was declared a wanted fugitive by Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng.
At a press conference in Accra on Wednesday, February 12, the Special Prosecutor noted that Ken Ofori-Atta is a suspect in four high-profile corruption cases, including the National Cathedral project, Strategic Mobilisation Limited (SML) contract scandal, and two others.
Since the announcement, some members of the Minority in Parliament NPP have jumped to the defense of Ken Ofori-Atta.
For Mustapha Gbande, some MPs are involved in corruption and will be dealt with equally.
“A number of MPs who are making noise in Parliament are on record as being involved in serious corruption and stealing state funds. They have stolen public money, and we have yet to speak about it, but now they are pretending to be clean? They are not. Some of them think they have friends within the NDC who will cover for them. I’ve told them to go and consult with their gods.”
“The game is just beginning, and they shouldn’t rush things. As for holding them accountable, some might run, but those who run will never escape. For those who stay, the law will test them, and nothing will stop that. We have the mandate from the people of Ghana to hold those who have stolen state funds accountable, and that will happen,” Mr. Gbande emphasised.
Comments
Ken Ofori-Atta is not sick; he is just making up an excuse about his health. He is fully aware of his financial crimes; therefore, he won't be coming to Ghana anytime soon. I can't understand how a family can be so cruel to cause harm to others for their benefit without any remorse. The new administration needs to begin planning for his extradition through Interpol.
